The general processes of removing a underground storage tank are as follows:
- Removal of liquid waste from within the underground storage tank and lines.
- Expose the top of underground storage tank.
- Test surrounding soil for contamination.
- Bleeding of fuel within supply and return lines back to the underground storage tank.
- Breaking and removal of underground storage tank anchors.
- Removal of underground storage tank and preparation for offsite disposal.
- Offsite disposal of underground storage tank.
- Once the site is free from contamination, a backfill and compaction is undertaken.
